As well as being the talented singer of Gone Til Winter, Talena SMith provides tuition and coaching for rock and metal vocals. She has developed a set of techniques and exercises specific to teaching vocal styles for extreme genres. Once again the theme of the is reflective of the rock and metal community: grungy backgrounds and blood red colouring, while still retaining a certain class. A couple of this website's features can be administered via the Content Management System. |

Gone Til Winter are a Manchester-based female fronted metal band. (And they're awesome). Having just recorded their new EP, 'Deconstruct The Season', the band wanted a complete redesign of their website to go with the release of the EP. I started by designing their new logo, after meeting with the band to find a theme that was reflective of the band's new image. From then on I designed the new website, working from artwork by Richard Harvey (richard_harvey@btinternet.com), which can be seen more extensively on their EP artwork. The website features a fully animated Flash header, including a music player, and is updatable using my Content Management System. |

Mark Mynett is a metal/rock music producer and he needed a website to showcase his work. The final result is a very simple website, with the original artwork and layout ideas by Xplosive design. Once again though, I adapted most of the web layout and some of the design ideas myself. It features an extended music player on the showcase page, written in Flash. At first it also had the Content Management System to update a news section on the home page, but eventually Mark not having much time to update it asked me to remove it altogether. Ah well... Oh, and have a look at that little animation at the top. Does it loop? if you think it does, I'm afraid you must be drunk... |

InBred Quarter are a heavy rock/metal outfit from Manchester. They wanted everything: new logo, artwork, and of course a brand new website, after their previous webmaster simply vanished from the earth. So I gave them what they wanted, and I guess they were pretty pleased with the results. This is actually the website that gave me the idea for developing my own Content Management System, after the singer Ste asked me if I could show him how to use web design software to update their site. So I started working on it, and after a few weeks they had a new website that they could update via their web browser. Oh, and with a fully animated Flash header, too. And a music player that is. Yup, all that. |

Rock-ed is a group of 4 musicians who go into schools and force our kids into enlightenment by making them play in bands. It's a great idea and when they said they could do with a website, I said sure, I'll make you one. First draft was in July 2005, in those tumultuous times after graduation. And it wasn't great... So when they finally admitted to me they didn't really like the old one, they gave me another chance and asked me to redesign, promptly. Which I did, once again with the addition of the CMS and a better layout. They provided me with their logo and I designed the rest of th site entirely. |

During the course of developing these websites, I taught myself how to use different software and scripting languages to add functionality to said websites. Here are some of the features that can be seen on my work:
- Content Management System
- Animated headers
- Music players
All the programming for the Content Management System is done in PHP using MySQL databases. The platform is constantly undergoing work to create new features and improve existing ones. The website owner can easily update and manage specific sections of their website (news, gig dates, guestbook...) using any browser, by logging into a separate admin area to the website.
All the animations are created in Flash using extensive ActionScript coding.
